Jamestown Base

This is a brief concept design based off of Jamestown Base from the AppleTV series 'For All Mankind.'

Everything was modeled within Maya and all textures were created from scratch in Substance Designer, with exception of the US Flag, which was created by downloading an HD US Flag image from Adobe Stock and then creating the textures for the material in Substance Painter. Everything was laid out in Unreal Engine 4.27.2. Several adjustments were made to the Post-Process Volumes in order to give it a darker, more natural look (given it's supposed to be on the Lunar surface). I tried hard to ensure there were very hard shadows visible outside in order to further simulate the exterior environment having no atmospheric scattering. All lighting is achieved by Rect Lights for the main habitat sections and the airlock section, with exception of the corner pieces in the main habitats where I used a spotlight in each corner to shine down through the grates above.

While I feel that I still have much to learn and a lot further to go, my understanding of Substance Designer has increased exponentially over the past month with this project. My biggest gripe is how the exterior terrain came out, which was generated using Instant Terra.

Unfortunately, I have not had an opportunity to properly sit down with Instant Terra to fully learn the particular software and plugin.
